About the directory
Stonework Atlas helps you discover people working with natural stone around the world.
Profiles
Explore by material, location, discipline or service. Profiles draw on public professional sources and information supplied by practitioners. Contact them directly about availability and projects.
Practitioner approval is noted under Sources. Other profiles are independent references.
Work and photographs
Photographs appear with permission or a reuse licence, with credits beside the work. Where images are unavailable, we link to the maker’s portfolio.

Privacy
Browsing does not require an account. We use first-party daily usage totals to understand which pages and profiles are visited, how people arrive, and which public actions are used. Analytics record counts, general device categories and country when supplied by the host. They do not save visitor identifiers, IP addresses, exact locations, full referring URLs or enquiry content, and do not follow people between websites. Totals are kept for up to 12 months and are available only to the operator. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are respected. We do not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies. A language you select is remembered in your browser; otherwise we use your browser’s language preference, with English as the fallback. Enquiries send your message and contact details to the named practitioner through Resend so they can reply. The directory database does not save enquiry message text or contact details; short-lived security records limit spam and duplicate sends.
We also keep a private activity log for up to 90 days: submitted search wording, times, pages viewed, profile links followed, published external links followed, and the titles of photographs opened. Please do not enter personal information in searches. The same browser privacy signals and usage opt-out apply.
To measure homepage continuation, this tab temporarily remembers whether you opened another directory page. This resets after 30 minutes. Only daily totals and destination pages are sent; no visitor identifier is sent.
When AI-assisted search is available and the index finds no matching work, the search description and eligible directory work photographs are sent to OpenAI to assess visible components and their relationships. Reviews are cached for up to seven days using a keyed search hash. Supported observations are saved privately for editorial review; accepting an observation does not automatically publish a new catalogue fact.
Anonymous usage counts are enabled for this browser.
Excluding this browser saves only a preference cookie for one year. It contains no visitor identifier.
Professional information and correspondence
We use names, studio locations, disciplines, materials, services, professional links and contact details from public professional websites and directories, or information supplied directly. Sources are recorded with profiles or identified in invitations. We use this information to help people discover stoneworkers, invite relevant practitioners where permitted, answer requests and record permissions.
Where data-protection law applies, we assess the lawful basis for each use. Limited professional reference entries may rely on our legitimate interest in maintaining an accurate directory, balanced against the person’s rights. New participating profiles are reviewed with the practitioner. Invitations require a documented sending basis under the applicable rules. A public email address alone does not establish permission. Photograph and portrait permissions are recorded separately.
Published profiles are visible worldwide. Correspondence and our contact ledger are private to the operator and the services used to run the directory. These include Google for email, OpenAI for research, correspondence assistance and record keeping, Cloudflare for hosting, and Resend for website enquiries. Services may process information in Canada and other countries. Contact Will for information about a particular record, its source, recipients and applicable transfer safeguards.
We retain profile information while it is listed, and correspondence and permission evidence for as long as needed to handle requests, document permitted uses and meet legal obligations. Inactive prospect records are reviewed at least annually. We keep the minimum opt-out record needed to avoid contacting someone again.
You can ask to access or correct your information, request removal, object to outreach, or withdraw permission. Where applicable, you may also request restriction or portability, and complain to your local privacy regulator. Contact will@stoneworkatlas.com. To stop invitations, reply “unsubscribe” or simply tell us you do not want further contact. Providing photographs or agreeing to a profile does not subscribe you to a mailing list. Assistants help with research and correspondence; the operator decides on profile publication and follow-up replies.
